Holding Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, Norman Lieberman has been practicing Chemical Engineering in petroleum refineries since 1964. An expert in Plant Retrofitting, Process Troubleshooting & Plant Design Improvements, specialized in the Petroleum Refining Industry. His major contribution to the industry is to demonstrate field troubleshooting techniques to young refinery process engineers. During his career in Amoco Oil (now part of BP) and GHR Energy in Norco, La., he has been engaged in Process Design, Technical Service Support, Operating Management & Field Troubleshooting. He instructed over 850+ seminars dealing with refinery troubleshooting. Over 19,000 engineers & technicians have attended his seminars which have been presented to major Oil & gas players like Marathon, Exxon, Shell (to name a few). He has authored ten technical books dealing with process operations like “Troubleshooting Process Operations”, “A Working Guide to Process Equipment”, etc. He also published approximately 100 articles in journals such as Oil & Gas Journal, Hydrocarbon Processing, etc. He is the 2018 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by Hydrocarbon Processing.
